Interview for Corresponsables with Agustina Liniers, Director of Communications at fibratel, in which she reviews the company’s ESG strategy and its commitment to sustainable digitalisation based on people, care for the environment and social contribution. fibratel is a technology integrator with more than 30 years of experience, specialising in advanced IT solutions, data centres, cybersecurity, networks and infrastructure, working with clients from all sectors to drive their digital transformation with efficiency and responsibility in mind.

Agustina Liniers details the group’s plans to reduce emissions, move towards carbon neutrality and promote the circular economy, as well as the policies on equality, training, well-being and social impact that form part of its corporate culture. She also addresses the importance of volunteering, collaboration with social entities and the role of technology as a tool for moving towards a more sustainable future.

fibratel has been promoting sustainable digitalisation for more than three decades. How do you integrate sustainability into the group’s corporate strategy and culture?

At fibratel , we are very clear that sustainability is not something isolated, but part of how we do things. It is part of our strategy, our culture and the way we relate to all our stakeholders. Our policy is based on three pillars: people, caring for the environment and having a positive impact on the community. All of this, of course, is aligned with the SDGs and with a clear vision: to grow in a responsible, innovative and efficient manner.

Based on this, we seek to integrate sustainable practices into all processes, build transparent and trusting relationships with customers, suppliers and employees, and advance good social, environmental and governance practices. We also work to minimise the negative impact of our activity and take this responsible approach beyond the company. This philosophy is present in our day-to-day work and allows us to accompany other organisations in their digital transformation processes, always with a responsible and sustainable approach.

What specific measures are you taking to reduce your environmental impact and move towards carbon neutrality?

Reducing our environmental impact is a priority. We have set ourselves a clear goal: to reduce CO₂ emissions by 20% between 2025 and 2027. To achieve this, we are already taking action: we are renewing our fleet with electric and hybrid vehicles, using IoT to monitor energy consumption, looking to the cloud, designing more sustainable data centres and conducting regular energy audits.

We also work with suppliers who use renewable energy and have certifications such as ISO 9001 and 14001, because we believe this is a shared commitment. Internally, we promote environmental awareness and training campaigns for employees and customers, and we measure all of this with indicators to ensure we are on the right track.

What progress have you made in terms of staff inclusion and well-being?

At fibratel, we work to create an inclusive and equitable environment. We have an equality plan and active diversity policies that have already enabled us to reduce the gender gap by six points in just one year. At the end of 2024, women represented 19% of the workforce, compared to 13% the previous year, which is a very significant advance for a sector such as technology.

In addition, we look after the well-being of our team with programmes such as fibratel Healthy and we carried out a psychosocial study that helped us to implement real improvements: greater coordination between areas, better time management, listening spaces and campaigns to promote postural and emotional health.

How do you promote professional development and continuous training in a company so closely linked to technological innovation?

We know that continuous training is key to sustaining innovation. That is why we offer personalised development plans, internal promotion pathways, advanced technical training and corporate leadership programmes.

In 2025, we allocated more than £170,000 to train more than 200 employees in technologies such as Cisco, AWS, Microsoft and Fortinet, among others. We also offer upskilling and reskilling programmes and training in soft skills such as leadership, communication and teamwork. These training courses are delivered via digital platforms, face-to-face sessions with strategic partners and organisations specialising in IT training.

We also organise webinars and workshops on emerging technologies, such as generative AI, to continue promoting a culture of continuous learning.

fibratel collaborates with organisations such as Caritas, Save the Children and the Food Bank. What criteria do you use to choose the projects you get involved in?

We choose to collaborate with projects that generate a real social impact and share our values: inclusion, education and solidarity. We focus on long-term initiatives that benefit vulnerable groups and in which our team can be actively involved.

As you mentioned, we work with organisations such as Food Bank, Caritas, Save the Children, UNICEF and Doctors Without Borders, among others. This choice is always based on ethical criteria, impact and alignment with our social responsibility policy. Before joining any project, we evaluate it to ensure that our actions contribute consistently to social and collective well-being.

What role does corporate volunteering play in building your socially responsible culture?

Corporate volunteering is a fundamental part of our culture. We encourage our team to actively participate in charitable initiatives related to food, health, and education.

We believe that, in addition to generating a positive impact on society, these actions strengthen internal cohesion, reinforce commitment to the company’s values and contribute to a better working environment.

What message would you like to convey to other companies in the technology sector about the importance of integrating sustainability into their business model?

Sustainability today is not an option, it is a strategic responsibility. At Fibratel, we believe that it should not be seen as an obligation, but as an opportunity to differentiate ourselves, build trust, attract talent and grow in a way that is consistent with the values of today’s environment.

In a sector such as technology, where innovation is advancing very rapidly, integrating ESG criteria is key to moving towards a fairer and more responsible economy. In our case, it has allowed us to evolve as a company, strengthen ties with our stakeholders and contribute to a more sustainable digital future.

Furthermore, we understand that sustainability also implies equality and diversity. That is why we include our equality plan as a real tool for transformation, aligned with current legislation and as a necessary step towards a more inclusive society.

We encourage companies in the sector to lead this change from within, making sustainability a driver of innovation and commitment.
